Srinagar, Jan 11: The chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah, who is under house arrest, on Wednesday appealed people to boycott the so-called upcoming Parliamentary elections saying “we have to make it clear that we have not forgotten the killers of our children”.
In a statement issued to press, Shah said, “Those dealing with pellets and bullets are killers not our representatives. The whole world is keenly observing us as whether the people of Kashmir will boycott those pro-India elements whose hands are smeared with the blood of innocent people or collaborate with them.”
“No nation chooses the killers as its representatives nor supports them in any way. The upcoming Parliamentary elections are a test for the people of Jammu Kashmir in general and those of south and central Kashmir in particular. We have to keep in view the martyrdom of all those killed and blinded during last year. Who can vote in favour of those who justify killings of innocent children by making ‘toffee’ remarks against them,” he said.
Shah said if the killers of more than 100 people don’t shy from demanding votes, but at least we should distinguish between right and wrong. “We should recognise the killers who still beat the drums of ‘battle of ideas’. Even the killers of 2008 and 2010 will beg you for votes but we must understand that the pro-India elements are two sides of the same coin,” he said.
“We must realize as to how these power-hungry people are selling each and every inch of the State to outsiders, how they hatch conspiracies like settling the West Pakistan Refugees and granting them domicile certificates in order to change the demography and Muslim majority status of the State, how they are hell bent on implementing the RSS agenda in Jammu Kashmir,” he said.
Shabir Ahmad Shah added, “We are aware of the invaluable sacrifices rendered by the people of this nation. We are guardians of those sacrifices. So we need to boycott the upcoming Parliamentary elections at any cost in order to safeguard our sacrifices. I hope the people will very consciously fulfill their responsibilities and give a befitting reply to the pro-India elements by completely boycotting the elections.”
