Sugar shortage in Sirgufwara

Villagers appeal CM to redress problem

Anantnag, Jul 5: Accusing the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) department for ignoring their plights, the residents of several villages of Sirgufwara Block here have demanded immediate redressal of their genuine demands.
The residents said during the Muslim holy festival, the authorities are depriving them to celebrate the day as the department has failed to provide them sugar on this day.
“The authorities fail to provide us sugar during the holy month of Ramadhan while the ration depots also san sugar on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr as well, due to which the government has left us to face hardships,” they said.
The residents said that the authorities should have made sugar available on the ration depot on Eid eve but unfortunately they are forcing people to take streets. “We cast ballots to get benefits from current regime but we are getting hardships by one way or another,” they said.
Threatening to block roads, the residents appealed government to make sugar available in their respective ration depot. “In case government failed to make ration available, we will stage protests and will block the roads,” they said. (KNS)
