New lecturers who were to get full salaries still underpaid

Srinagar, Jan 12: The recently appointed lecturers in School Education Department on Friday held a protest against the government for underpaying them even thought they are relaxed of the new job policy.
As per the protesting lecturers, they, at present are being paid only basic salaries even as the state cabinet had ordered they be relaxed of Rule 9 and 10 of SRO-202.
As per rule 9 and 10 of SRO 202 (New Job Policy), for the first five years, an appointee is entitled to only minimum scale of pay along with the grade pay as applicable to the post one is appointed for. Also, the appointees are only entitled to other benefits of DA, HRA and other allowances after completion of the five years.
However, the protesting lecturers carried a copy of the Cabinet order dated October 03, 2017 which reads that “full salary along with allowances shall be payable to these appointees in relaxation of Rule 9 and 10 of the aforesaid SRO with immediate effect”.
The lecturers, who they say were 1067 in number, said they said they were getting the remuneration of Rs 20,400 a month, not even half of the Rs 50,000, which they should get after formal orders.
“No formal order has been issued to us, even after state cabinet decided that we will draw full salary,” said one of the protesting lecturers.
“The cabinet has already announced the decision, that the newly recruited lecturers will draw full salary, then why General Administration Department (GAD) fails to issue formal orders,” said Haroon Mohidin Bhat, a lecturer from Pulwama.
